چکیده

Developing diffuse optical tomography methods for neuroimaging of humans is challenging due geometry and light level constraints. Analysis of multi-distant high-density imaging arrays shows the feasibility of imaging up to 20 mm depth within the adult brain. ©2008 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (170.6960) Tomography; (170.2655) Functional monitoring and imaging; (330.4270) Vision system neurophysiology

Depth sensitivity and image reconstruction analysis of dense imaging arrays for mapping brain function with diffuse optical tomography.

The development of diffuse optical tomography (DOT) instrumentation for neuroimaging of humans is challenging due to the large size and the geometry of the head and the desire to distinguish signals at different depths. One approach to this problem is to use dense imaging arrays that incorporate measurements at different source-detector distances. We previously developed a high-density DOT syst...

Retinotopic mapping of adult human visual cortex with high-density diffuse optical tomography.

Functional neuroimaging is a vital element of neuroscience and cognitive research and, increasingly, is an important clinical tool. Diffuse optical imaging is an emerging, noninvasive technique with unique portability and hemodynamic contrast capabilities for mapping brain function in young subjects and subjects in enriched or clinical environments. We have developed a high-performance, high-de...

Application of Subject Specific Models for Mapping Brain Function with Diffuse Optical Tomography

The application of diffuse optical tomography (DOT) methods for neuroimaging of humans is challenging due to the geometry of each individual subject and light level constraints. A high density imaging array system has been developed and used to demonstrate the possibility of true tomographic reconstruction of cortical activity within the adult subjects which are consistent with studies using fu...

Brain Specificity of Diffuse Optical Imaging: Improvements from Superficial Signal Regression and Tomography

Functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) is a portable monitor of cerebral hemodynamics with wide clinical potential. However, in fNIRS, the vascular signal from the brain is often obscured by vascular signals present in the scalp and skull. In this paper, we evaluate two methods for improving in vivo data from adult human subjects through the use of high-density diffuse optical tomography...

Diffuse optical tomography using multi-directional sources and detectors.

Diffuse optical tomography (DOT) is an advanced imaging method used to visualize the internal state of biological tissues as 3D images. However, current continuous-wave DOT requires high-density probe arrays for measurement (less than 15-mm interval) to gather enough information for 3D image reconstruction, which makes the experiment time-consuming. In this paper, we propose a novel DOT measure...
